Some providers might be leery about acquiring temporary nurses through a third party, following a $2.75 million settlement between healthcare workers and a travel nursing agency.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California approved a class-action lawsuit settlement Friday. Healthcare workers accused Faststaff LLC of not including housing stipends in overtime calculations, Bloomberg Law reported

The legal action claimed the alleged shortfall violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and California law.

More than 2,750 workers will receive and split $1.7 million of the total settlement. The lead plaintiffs in the case, employees Stephanie Dalchau and Michael Goodwin, will each receive $10,000 in service awards.

The company will also pay about $916,600 in attorney’s fees and $27,700 for reimbursed litigation costs, the report stated.
