The National Academy for State Health Policy, in association with the SCAN Foundation, recently released a detailed look at new healthcare reform policy changes that affect long-term services and supports.
The report, “Policy Advances Enacted By The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act,” examines new policies ranging from the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act to employee background checks. The authors also examine societal factors leading up to passage of the healthcare reform law and attitudes toward long-term care services and supports. They note that roughly 79% of people were more likely to support healthcare reform if it included better coverage for home- and community-based services.
