The home health care services industry ranked fourth on the list, with the number of jobs expected to grow 25%, from 1,344,672 in 2014 to 1,677,455 in 2019. Continuing care retirement communities snagged the eighth spot on the list, with an estimated 21% growth, and addition of 93,738 new jobs before 2019. The physical, occupational and speech therapy industries are expected to add 75,379 new jobs over the next five years, making for a 21% increase.
A separate employment report released on Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that overall, the healthcare industry is experiencing promising job growth. In May, healthcare added 47,000 jobs, with 28,000 new positions created in the ambulatory care services field. The report also found that between April and May of this year, home healthcare services saw more than 8,000 new jobs added, while the nursing and residential care industry added roughly 4,000 new jobs.
