The National Center for Assisted Living has declared the winners of its annual awards for outstanding assisted living administrators, nurses and caregivers.

This year’s winners, announced Tuesday, are:

• Administrator of the Year — Sue Brown, the assisted living director/operator of Vintage Park at Baldwin City, KS

• Nurse of the Year — Marybeth Sondergaard, director of nursing at Heritage at Clara Barton in Edison, NJ

• Noble Caregiver in Assisted Living Award —  Benjamin Sheard, Jr., building services director of The Chelsea at Tinton Falls, NJ

• National Assisted Living Week Programming Award — Michelle Ten Napel, activities director at Park Place Estates in LeMars, IA, will receive the award on behalf of her facility.

This year’s winners will receive their awards during the 61st Annual AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention & Expo in Long Beach, CA. The convention kicks off Oct. 10 with NCAL Day. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony that day.
