McKnight’s Long-Term Care News has earned two 2013 American Society of Business Publication Editors awards, one each on the national and regional levels.

At the top level, McKnight’s was honored with a Bronze Award in the “Best Annual Buyer’s Guide” category. The 2013 McKnight’s Industry Directory features not only comprehensive listings of products and services for the long-term care industry but also spotlights 16 market segments with buying advice. Recommendations come from vendors and fellow providers. The 188-page publication also included pricing comparisons. Two years ago, the Industry Directory won Gold at the national level.

McKnight’s also earned a Silver Award in the “Editorial/Editor’s Letter” category in the Midwest-South Region for Executive Editor John O’Connor’s “The Big Picture” column. The winning components of the entry were his August and September 2012 columns about a broken payment system (“Time to revamp Medicaid”) and an overall lack of affordable seniors housing (“A missed opportunity?”), respectively. O’Connor has earned eight other national writing awards over the last six years.

“It’s a true honor to be recognized by the leaders in business publishing for works like these,” said McKnight’s Editor James M. Berklan. “All departments of the office work very hard to make our Industry Directory useful and informative for the reader. It is by far more useful than any other publication like it in our market.

“As for yet another writing award for John, well, that’s no surprise really. He’s the dean of long-term care business publication news writers, and it’s nice to see him recognized as one of the best among all kinds of business publication writers. His type of insight and writing skills doesn’t come around very often.”
