The American Society of Business Publications Editors (ASBPE) has named McKnight’s Long-Term Care News the 2022 Gold Medalist in the Best Print News Section category.

The publication also earned the national Silver Medal in the Best Original Research category for its “Mood of the Market” survey.

Overall, McKnight’s publications earned five national Azbee Awards of Excellence and 10 at the regional level this year.

Among the national awards this year was a Silver to sister publication McKnight’s Senior Living for best print news section, giving the company a one-two sweep in that category.

Another Gold went to McKnight’s Home Care brand for “Spotlight on loneliness” in the Best Feature category.

Results were announced Thursday night at an awards ceremony in Cleveland.

“We are thrilled that top U.S. journalists have confirmed what we and the long-term care world have known for years: McKnight’s is tops at getting readers the news, analysis and insights to do their jobs better,” said McKnight’s Editorial Director John O’Connor.

Staff Writer Danielle Brown, Senior Editor Kimberly Marselas, Art Director Mark Speakman and Executive Editor James M. Berklan were named on the Gold certificate for the Best Print News Section entry. The monthly magazine is now in its 43rd year and is long-term care’s most highly decorated publication.

Speakman and Berklan were recognized with the Silver Award for their “Mood of the Market” survey package. Their coverage ran in the September 2021 edition of the magazine, as well as in a handful of Daily Update newsletter installments that month. The package gauged readers’ attitudes during the summer of 2021, when the pandemic had already been raging for more than a year.

McKnight’s Long-Term Care News has now earned 25 national Azbee awards and 56 at the regional level. To read more about our sister brand’s honors, visit the coverage at mcknightsseniorliving.com and mcknightshomecare.com.
