McKnight’s Long-Term Care News Senior Editor Kim Marselas was named the nation’s best in the Original Research reporting category in the 2023 American Society of Business Publications Editors awards.
Marselas was honored for her work on the 2022 McKnight’s Mood of the Market survey and subsequent reporting about it. She produced multiple highly read Daily Update newsletter stories and an expansive print magazine spread titled “At their breaking points,” which delved into nursing home managers’ attitudes and perceptions in mid-2022.
“This is great recognition and another feather in Kim’s already crowded ‘cap,’” praised McKnight’s Editorial Director John O’Connor. “It’s no surprise that judges would honor her work this way.”
National winners were announced Thursday night at ASBPE’s 2023 national conference in Atlanta.
Marselas previously won a national Silver Award in the 2022 ASBPE “Azbee Awards” program. Earlier this spring, she won two Gold Awards in the ASBPE regional competition, one as part of a reporting team; she also earned a regional Bronze for blog writing and another Bronze as a team member in the Best Breaking News coverage category.
Overall, McKnight’s publications earned four national Azbee Awards of Excellence and 11 at the regional level this year.
McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, now in its 44th year, is long-term care’s most highly decorated publication. In the ASBPE program alone, it has garnered 26 national honors and 61 at the regional level.
Among the national awards this year were a Silver and a Bronze to sister publication McKnight’s Home Care brand for best podcast and editorial writing, respectively. In addition, McKnight’s Senior Living won a Bronze in the best print magazine news section category.
ASBPE’s Azbee Awards of Excellence program honors deserving business-to-business, trade, association and professional publications. The awards recognize outstanding work by magazines and digital media including websites, e-newsletters, digital magazines, social media and blogs.
