LTC campaign revamps goals
The Advancing Excellence campaign is calling on skilled nursing providers to use a set of updated goals to create a framework for achieving better care.
The updated set of goals, which was released in late August, includes some new measures, and some that are refined versions of previous goals, said David Gifford, M.D., Advancing Excellence co-chairman and a senior vice president at the American Health Care Association.
The process goals are: improving staff stability; increasing use of consistent assignment; increasing person-centered care; and safely reducing hospitalizations. The clinical goals are: using medications appropriately; increasing resident mobility; preventing and managing infections safely; reducing pressure ulcers; and decreasing symptoms of pain.
The campaign is looking to expand its scope by bringing in additional organizations, such as academic and research institutions, said Cheryl Phillips, M.D., Advancing Excellence co-chair and senior vice president for advocacy at LeadingAge.
