The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Wal-Mart on Monday in a major class-action lawsuit accusing the corporation of sex discrimination. In a 5-4 vote, the justices decided the world’s largest private employer did not have a common corporate policy of discrimination toward women in terms of compensation and promotion. Some 1.5 million former and current female employees were party to the lawsuit. The decision has labor management implications for other corporate interests, including nursing home chains.
