Immigration reform bill still alive, senators say

A vote could still take place on the fragile immigration reform bill.

The bill will return to the Senate floor as early as this week after a bipartisan group of senators last week cut hundreds of amendments down to less than a couple dozen. The bill just days ago was pulled from the Senate floor. Passage of the bill remains uncertain.

Nursing home providers have indicated their support for an important piece of the landmark bill - the creation of a guest-worker program, which would allow immigrants to temporarily work in the United States. Such a provision could help fill the shortage of direct caregivers.
