The House this week will debate the House Budget Committee’s fiscal year 2007 budget blueprint. None of the President Bush’s proposed Medicaid spending cuts are retained in the plan.

Last week the committee approved the proposal by a 22-17 vote. It omitted $36 billion in planned Medicare cuts as well as $13 billion worth of Medicaid reductions from its budget blueprint. Last month the Senate also passed a resolution excluding these cuts. These cuts would reduce affect funding for the long-term care industry.
