The Foundation for the Advancement of Elder and Disabled Care, which is affiliated with the American Health Care Association, recently named John F. Derr as its first executive director.

Prior to his appointment, Derr was vice president for special programs for AHCA. He spearheaded AHCA’s initiative with the Center for Health Transformation that focused on the use of electronic health record technology in long-term care.

The nonprofit foundation plans to build on current projects, including a study funded by the Department of Labor on state long-term care workforce infrastructure, under Derr’s direction. It will also expand its development of future projects to identify benchmarks and best practices that support an enriched quality of care and quality of life for long-term care residents.
