The deadline for entries into the fourth annual McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program is today at 11:59 p.m. ET.
The awards program is offered by McKnight’s Senior Living, McKnight’s Long-Term Care News and McKnight’s Home Care. After adding a category in 2021, the 2022 program features the expansion of existing categories into the home care sector as well as a new award.
Since 2019, the awards program has recognized 138 women in senior living and skilled nursing across three categories and through a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Eligible for recognition in 2022 are women working as direct care providers, managers, executives, corporate executives and owners in independent living, assisted living, memory care and life plan communities, as well as those working in those capacities in skilled nursing facilities and in home care and home health. Women who serve the fields indirectly — for instance as association staff members, academicians or thought leaders — also are eligible. Individuals working for vendor companies are not eligible.
The categories for Women of Distinction awards in 2022:
- Hall of Honor: Candidates should be senior-level professionals in the C-suite or at a level equivalent to vice president or higher and should have made a significant impact on their organization or the industry.
- Veteran VIPs: Candidates should have more than 15 years of experience making an impact on the senior living, skilled nursing or home care fields and should be at a level lower than vice president or its equivalent. Whether as a community/facility administrator or executive director; or as a director of nursing, health/wellness or activities; or through some other position, they must have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the senior living and care industry through their accomplishments.
- Rising Stars: Candidates must be aged 40 or fewer years or have fewer than 15 years of experience in the profession. Also, they must have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the senior living and care industry. These achievements/accomplishments may include, for example, managing a project, developing a campaign or contributing to the field via research or thought leadership.
Nominators should be prepared to share detailed information about nominees’ work histories, exceptional achievements and contributions or service, and anything else that the judging panel should consider.
Nominations submitted at this point have a $129 entry fee.
This year’s additional award, the McKnight’s Spirit Award, will recognize inspiring women who provide care and services. As many as five honorees will be chosen. Nominations for this award will be accepted at no charge.
All honorees, including a Lifetime Achievement Award winner, will be celebrated at a May 12 event as part of the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Awards and Forum, which will include educational sessions; details will be announced at a later date.
