Program Description:

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the United States, primarily due to the effects of heart disease and stroke. The goal of this activity is to educate primary care clinicians on the evidence-based treatment of heart failure and provide guidance for commonly encountered clinical dilemmas.

 

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

This educational activity is intended for physicians and other healthcare clinicians who treat patients with cardiovascular/cerebrovascular diseases. There are no prerequisites.

Activity Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should demonstrate the ability to:

— Identify components of the history and physical exam most suggestive of heart failure.
— Assess evidence-based treatment for heart failure and apply strategies to implement and co-manage therapy.
— Recognize appropriate situations to refer a patient to a heart failure specialist or cardiologist.
