As of next month, providers will be required to follow new accidents and supervision guidance.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid recently released revised surveyor guidance for F-323, which combines the previous tags F-323 and F-324. The regulation mandates that facilities provide supervision and assistive devices to each resident to prevent avoidable accidents. The guidance will take effect Aug. 6.

Per the guidance, surveyors will be looking at how providers are monitoring and modifying processes to ensure that interventions are implemented correctly and consistently.
