Building on the success of its April “Train-the-Trainer Conference” for MDS 3.0, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is preparing to pull together a second event sometime this August, the agency recently disclosed.

The first “Train-the-Trainer” program was designed to help the nursing home community transition to the MDS 3.0, which is scheduled to take effect this October. An overwhelming response from the community led organizers to add an extra three days to the conference, but it was not enough to satisfy demand. CMS on Wednesday said that it is planning a second event, and has called for input from the nursing home community to help organize it.

To better assess a conference location and to approximate how many people might attend, CMS is asking providers to essentially RSVP for the proposed August conference. CMS would like organizations to send their facility name, geographic location and number of interested participants in an e-mail to [email protected] by June 1 to help organizers prepare for the event.
