Nearly 50% of unvaccinated Americans who have heard that Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID vaccine is now fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration say they will now “probably” or “definitely” consider getting the shot, according to a new Harris poll.

In addition, most respondents (80%) who were aware of the approval of Comirnaty said they have more confidence in the vaccine, reported FiercePharma.

Other takeaways from FiercePharma’s report on the poll:

  • Fully 79% of respondents were aware of the Pfizer drug’s approval
  • Mandates are expected, with 83% of respondents expecting employers and other entities to increase vaccination requirements
  • FDA approval is sufficient to declare a vaccine safe and effective, respondents said
  • Most respondents (86%) believe that unvaccinated people who said full FDA approval was necessary before they would get the shot will likely find another reason to avoid vaccination
