Country music star Travis Tritt has filed suit against his record label in connection with breach of contract and fraud. The owner of the label, incidentally, is also the owner of one of Connecticut’s largest nursing home companies.

The state currently is investigating Ray Termini, president and CEO of the Category 5 record label and CEO of Haven Healthcare. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is probing whether Haven loaned nearly $9 million to Category 5 while it failed to pay nursing home bills. Termini denies wrongdoing with regard to the nursing homes. He said he made legal investments in Category 5 through refinancing of some nursing home properties.

Tritt, who signed a four-year deal with the label in 2005, meanwhile, has accused Termini of misrepresenting Category 5’s financial resources and its ability to honor its financial obligations to the singer. The label owes Tritt nearly $400,000, the lawsuit states. Tritt also charged that Termini made disparaging remarks about him to other record labels.
