McKnight’s Long-Term Care News has been honored with three national 2021 Azbee Awards, which are bestowed for top journalism among business publication websites.

Earning top honors with a Gold Medal is former Senior Editor Liza Berger for her blogging efforts. Currently the editor of the McKnight’s Home Care division, her winning trio of blogs comprised: “Private equity’s reckoning,” “It’s time for private nursing home rooms,” and “A critical next step: Take the vaccine.”

The McKnight’s Long-Term Care News staff also earned a Silver Award for best home page (www.mcknights.com) and a Bronze Award for Best Spot News coverage, about the establishment and findings of the federal coronavirus nursing home in summer 2020. Staff Writer Danielle Brown, Senior Editor Kimberly Marselas, Art Director Mark Speakman and Executive Editor James M. Berklan are credited for the former, while Brown and Berklan contributed to the coverage for the latter.

The awards are bestowed by the American Society of Business Publication Editors’ Azbee Awards of Excellence competition.

In addition to the national honors, which were also recognized at the regional level, the publication’s team also earned regional Silver Awards for Best Print News Section, Best Original Research, and a Bronze Award for Best Online Single Topic Coverage By a Team.

In addition, it shared a regional Silver Award for Best Special Supplement (for the 2020 Dealmakers Handbook) with sister publication McKnight’s Senior Living, which won two national awards and two more regionals of its own.

The Azbee competition attracted more than 800 entries from across the country, which were judged by more than 85 business-to-business editors and designers. This year’s awards recognize work completed in 2020 by business-to-business, trade, association and professional print and digital publications.

ASBPE is a national organization with the goal of serving and advancing the profession of journalism in business media brands and to encourage the highest ethical standards at those brands. The Azbee Awards of Excellence program is one of the most competitive programs for business-to-business, trade, association and professional publications. The awards recognize outstanding work by magazines, websites, e-newsletters, digital magazines, social media and blogs.
