BEI has officially signed on to increase its nurse-recruiting efforts around the globe. The long-term care giant previously known as Beverly Enterprises has hired 75 nurses from the Philippines and recently announced it hoped to expand such efforts.

BEI said it plans to supplement a “very aggressive” domestic recruiting strategy with the foreign push.

“Our partnership with (overseas recruiter) Universal Resources is an example of how Beverly is addressing the critical workforce shortage faced by the entire long-term care industry and — most importantly — ensuring the delivery of quality care for the elderly men and women we serve,” said Jim Scott, BEI’s director of corporate recruitment.

BEI currently has 345 nursing homes nationwide, as well as assisted living and hospice facilities, and various senior services businesses. In March, company leaders put the company on the auction block.
