Directors at a Danvers, MA, nursing home are being especially creative in showing their appreciation to staff members this week. Management at Harborside Cedar Glen Rehabilitation and Nursing Center decided to thank employees for cost-saving efforts by filling their tanks at a local gas station Tuesday.

The bonus was a gift to staff for significantly reducing the number of workers' compensation claims over the last year. The program received local media attention, particularly in light of soaring gas prices around the country.

"We wanted to thank our team for these efforts that are being returned to the employees in this most unusual way, and we thought that this was an excellent way to express our appreciation," said Cedar Glen administrator Frank Silvia in a Boston-based report.
