National HealthCare Corporation has appointed Robert Adams, brother of Chief Executive Andy Adams, as president of the Murfreesboro, TN-based healthcare company. He will continue also as chief operating officer.

Robert Adams has served NHC for 29 years, 18 years as senior vice president. Andy Adams has been chairman of the board since 1994, as well as CEO. Andy Adams had served as president of NHC since 1974.

“For the past several years, Robert has handled many of the day to day operations for NHC and this new title just makes it official,” NHC Chairman Andy Adams said.

NHC operates for itself and third parties 76 long-term health care centers with 9,332 beds. NHC also operates 32 homecare programs, six independent living centers and assisted living centers at 19 locations.
