Sen. Jay D. Rockefeller (D-WV)

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) this week proposed granting the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) jurisdiction over Medicare reimbursement decisions. McKnight’s’ readers can find out more about Medicare policy issues during the free two-day Online Expo next Wednesday and Thursday.

MedPAC would be a better choice to determine reimbursement than Congress, which are subject to political pressures. Rockefeller also said the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality should have greater authority to coordinate public and private healthcare quality efforts.

McKnight’s will highlight Medicare policy issues during its webcast entitled “Medicare, Medicaid and the year ahead” on Thursday at 1 p.m. EST. Four other webcasts on issues ranging from wound care to capital will be broadcast over the two days. Webcast attendees are eligible to receive up to five continuing education credits—one per webcast.

Besides education sessions, visitors to the Expo can visit more than 17 booths and interact with vendors—all from a desktop computer. Don’t miss it! To sign up for the Expo, click here.
