The American Health Care Association will hold its Board of Governors’ meeting Wednesday at association headquarters in Washington. Key personnel issues, along with the group’s upcoming annual meeting, figure to be a significant part of discussions. The board has been working with an executive search firm attempting to find a replacement for outgoing President and CEO Bruce Yarwood.

The goal was to have a new leader in place this fall, ahead of Yarwood’s schedule December departure. But Yarwood, the current leader of the nation’s largest nursing home association, has indicated he would stay as long as needed to allow a smooth transition. He also will continue in some sort of consulting role for AHCA once he retires, officials said.

Wednesday’s meeting will be the final one for the Board of Governors before the association’s 61st annual convention and expo, which will be held Oct. 10-13 in Long Beach, CA. More than 60 educational sessions, networking and several keynote addresses will highlight the event.
