Directors of nursing rolling the dice with annual meeting

The National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care is gathering members for five days of education, networking and socializing at Caeser's Palace in Las Vegas. The meeting starts Saturday and includes an opening General Session on Sunday and exhibit hours Monday and Tuesday mornings. With a theme of "In it to win it!" the conference will offer up to 30 hours of continuing education credit. A full array of clinical, regulatory and management topics will be covered.

Long-term care administrators gearing up for 19th annual 'Winter Marketplace'


When the Thanksgiving holiday week clears, long-term care leaders will be getting ready to collect and discuss strategies at the ACHCA Winter Marketplace conference in Las Vegas. Sponsored by the American College of Health Care Administrators, the three-day conference will offer more than 35 hours of educational sessions on new trends, best practices and other insights from Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. Dr. Michael E. Frisina, the well-known author of "Influential Leadership — Change Your Behavior, Change Your Organization, Change Health Care," will be the opening keynote speaker.

An event that will feature unprecedented app-lications

The Consumer Electronics Association announced that the 2013 International CES will be the largest app event in the world. The annual Las Vegas show takes place January 8-11. App-related happenings at CES will include competitions, educational sessions and events that showcase the best of the app world. In all, the 2013 CES will feature 3,000 global technology companies.

LTC administrators going to 'market' in Las Vegas

The American College of Health Care Administrators is holding its 18th annual Winter Marketplace meeting today through Sunday in Las Vegas. Three hundred long-term care leaders and a variety of vendors and information specialists will be on hand to celebrate "The Essence of Leadership," the meeting's theme. Dozens of continuing education credits will be available via sessions at Bally's Las Vegas, covering legal, operations, staffing and other issues.

Largest U.S. long-term care association kicks off 62nd annual convention Sunday

The American Health Care Association will open its annual convention and expo Sunday at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. The event, which attracts upwards of 5,000 long-term care owners, operators, administrators, directors of nursing and other top managers, will run through Wednesday. Best-selling author Daniel Pink ("Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us"; "A Whole New Mind") will keynote the opening general session at 3 p.m. Monday. Corporate culture expert Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Inc., will be the featured speaker at the closing general session at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Association rolling dice with 'new' approach for nurses: earning certification at the show

The American Association for Long Term Care Nursing is testing a "new" approach at its annual conference next Thursday and Friday in Las Vegas. Nurses will be able to attend a traditional conference and exhibition AND fulfill requirements for certification at the same time. Certification requirements can be fulfilled for Director of Nursing in Long Term Care, Long Term Care Staff Development Specialist, and Long Term Care Safety Specialist.
