Kindred Healthcare will expand its headquarters and add about 500 jobs, the company announced in December.

The state of Kentucky preliminarily approved $11 million in tax incentives for the project. Kindred plans to erect a six-story building to be used largely for employee training. It will be in Louisville’s Theater Square, which will be renamed Kindred Square. Construction could begin this summer and take two years to complete.

Its recent acquisition of  home health company Gentiva made Kindred the fourth-largest U.S. healthcare employer.
