Med-Mizer is hoping to add 7,500 square feet of work space and hire 20 additional employees, executives said.

The company asked the Batesville (IN) Economic Development Commission in April for a tax abatement in order to make a $1.2 million investment in growth.

“We are so proud of where we came from and want to control our own destiny. Bringing more operations in house will provide faster development time which will lead to more innovation and many new products,” said Med-Mizer CEO Ted Tekulve.

The investment will help in the addition of contract manufacturing for medical devices, metal fabrication, rehabilitation equipment and products associated, he said.

Company officials said they plan to work with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to gain tax credits. The company was given a tax abatement in 2012 for a 7,500-square foot addition.
