Heidi Hendrix, RN, Chief Nursing Officer

One of the largest post-acute providers in the northeast has named a new top nurse executive.

Centers Health Care, in the Bronx, N.Y., has named Heidi Hendrix, RN, as its new chief nursing officer. She has spent more than 25 years in long-term care nursing, including six years as a vice president for Genesis Healthcare. She spent 17 years with SunBridge, which is the former moniker of that industry giant.

Her new company bills itself as one of the “fastest growing companies in the nation in the post-acute industry.” The firm has  more than doubled in size the past few years, to comprise 45 skilled nursing and rehab facilities in five states. Its service portfolio includes assisted living, adult day health care, medical transportation, urgent care, managed long-term care and home care.

“In order to help us effectively manage the growth we’ve experienced and our continued growth in the future, we needed to add someone to the team who has done it already and has a proven track record of success,” Kenny Rozenberg, CEO of Centers, said in a company announcement.  Ms. Hendrix, who will be working from the company’s Bronx, New York headquarters, will have a noticeable presence in all of Centers’ facilities.  “Nursing happens at the facility level and no matter how large the company, that’s where the real leadership happens.”
