Spectrum Health has integrated HealthMEDX in order to exchange patient information between its inpatient and post-acute facilities.

Spectrum Health, which is in West Michigan, “is the first health system in the nation to achieve the electronic synchronization of the Master Person Index and Medical Record Number between acute and post-acute care settings, as well as the first to integrate HealthMEDX with Cerner and Epic EMR platforms to achieve the electronic transfer of structured clinical notes based on industry standards,” the company said.

Spectrum’s five post-acute facilities are using HealthMEDX Vision as their electronic medical record, whereas its acute care facilities are using Cerner Millennium for their EMR. HealthMEDX’s Exchange Platform allowed for interoperability, which means employees can more effective identify and track patients through the continuum of care.
