Nearly 90% of claims were accepted efficiently during a second round of ICD-10 end-to-end testing, newly released results from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services show. The 88% success rate was notably higher than the 81% rate achieved during the first test round held in January. Testing in April also showed a decrease in diagnosis errors.

From April 27 to May 1, there were 875 clearinghouses, payers, billing agencies and Medicare fee-for-service providers that participated in CMS’s second ICD-10 end-to-end testing week. The exercise was assisted by Medicare Administrative Contractors and the Durable Medical Equipment MAC Common Electronic Data Interchange.

The improved acceptance rate shows that the federal agency will be able to successfully accept claims when the IDC-10 implementation deadline hits, CMS officials said. A final testing week will take place July 20-24, the agency said.
