The growing list of multi-drug resistant organisms is enough to worry any nursing home leader. These superbugs present a global threat to vulnerable patients such as those treated for ailments in long-term care and other healthcare facilities. Treatment options can be limited, even as the number of patients being exposed is increasing.
But understanding precautions such as proper cleaning and disinfecting, hand hygiene and surveillance can help providers reduce the spread of MDROs and limit the effects on their residents.
