A retirement home employee in Virginia was arrested after he wounded seven people with a knife Sunday at a nursing home portion of the facility.

Police are still investigating why Mustafa Mohamed, 30, a housekeeping employee at the Goodwin House Alexandria retirement home in Alexandria, VA, committed the attacks. The slashings occurred at the 68-bed healthcare center, one of four levels of residency at the retirement home.

In addition to four residents — all women in their eighties and nineties — the victims included a woman employee of Goodwin House and two visitors.

According to police, the suspect, who works part time at the facility, attacked a worker in an office and then continued down a hallway and into the second-floor living quarters, stabbing people at random. He then was disarmed by a visitor to the retirement home and later punched an Alexandria police officer before being taken into custody.
