At baseball games long ago, vendors would ring out, “You can’t tell the players without a scorecard!” This was, of course, from the guys selling scorecards before players had their names printed on the back of their jersey.

Or, for the so-called more-cultured crowd, think of a playbill. If you want to know where you’ve seen that handsome lead actor before or what else the redhead who enunciates her words so crisply has performed in, the playbill is your invaluable mini-internet of information.

With that in mind, this month we are bringing you full coverage of the wildly successful 2019 McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards ceremony and its honorees.

In your print edition of McKnight’s Long-Term Care News (and McKnight’s Senior Living), you will find yourself amid the smiles, hugs and applause that filled the May 16 awards ceremony in Chicago. It was truly a night to remember.

Also, on Monday, we will be start bringing you individual profiles of all of the Hall of Honor inductees and Rising Star honorees. There will be two daily: one Hall of Honor inductee and one Rising Star. They’ll appear each morning in our Daily Update and Daily Briefing e-newsletters until there are no more.

Consider it your daily scorecard. Or better yet, the playbill for this outstanding program. Learn what makes the stars tick, why they were chosen and what characteristics you might have in common. Nominated by peers; elevated by a national, independent panel of judges; feted by a sold-out Chicago crowd, we want you to know more about each one.

These professional stars are emblems of what is right today and also beacons for honorees in the tomorrows ahead. Read, learn, honor, emulate.

It will be a July to remember.
