New healthcare company Connected for Care introduced its CARE Telemedicine solution at the  LeadingAge annual meeting this week. With strategic software partner HealthMEDX®, Connected for Care is geared around pairing telemedicine tools with an EMR platform in non-acute care settings.

Connected for Care introduction follows a 10-month pilot with Lexington Health Network, a Chicago-area provider. Lexington’s care providers used a prototype CARE Telemedicine solution to remotely evaluate sudden acute changes. Out of a group of 250 residents, three out of four were treated in place and thus avoided a return hospital visit. The system saved an estimated $2.5 million in transfer and direct care costs.

One part of the solution is a custom telemedicine cart, complete with secure HD video, a digital stethoscope, touchscreen control center and full chart access via the HealthMEDX® iCare mobile app.

“Partnering with HealthMEDX to provide mobile access to the full patient chart truly actuates the concept of virtual medicine,” said Paul Knight, who co-founded Connected for Care with fellow Lexington executive Jason Samatas.
