No matter what your faith, pretty much everyone has heard of King Solomon, son of King David, who was given the gift of wisdom. How, therefore, can I say I think he is wrong?
However, in Ecclesiastes, he states 38 times that life is futile. To him, life was meaningless.
Well, Sol, I disagree. I believe not only that life has meaning but that what we chose to do can outlive us.
Now, I know that “work” is a four-letter word. You don’t spell it “fun,” yet you can have fun at work. You don’t spell it “happy,” yet you can find happiness at work.
And we can find meaning at work.
See, I think old Solomon overlooked his resources. He had more than any man could dream of, but he didn’t appreciate it. He knew no labor — all was given to him. And honestly, I think he needed a different perspective.
The ability to work is a gift. Make your work come alive. Aim high. Think about it: What will you do at work that will outlive you?
We are blessed to work in an industry where we can leave our footprints. Sorry, Solomon, but there is something new under the sun every day.
It isn’t futile. It’s amazing!
Just keeping it real,
