Adrienne Mims, M.D., medical director of Atlanta-based Alliant GMCF, the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Georgia, is the new president of the American Health Quality Association and will hold this position for one year.
She will lead the AHQA Board of Directors and serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of all AHQA committees. Additionally, she will be the official spokesperson for the organization.
“I look forward to further strengthening QIO relationships with providers, CMS and stakeholder organizations, and to bolstering learning and sharing of best practices, tools, and education among members to support QIO health care improvement efforts at the local level in every state,” Mims said.
She has more than 30 years in primary care, consultative and home care geriatric experience. She also worked as a medical administrator for 20 years. In addition to her AHQA responsibilities, Mims is serving a second term on the Board of Directors for the American Geriatric Society, where she chairs the Audit Committee.
Mims is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and an adjunct faculty for the Morehouse School of Medicine in the departments of Family Medicine and Preventative Health and Community Medicine and Emory Geriatrics.
Mims received her undergraduate degree at George Washington University and attended medical school at Stanford University. She completed her residency at Martin Luther King Jr./Charles Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles and a Geriatric Fellowship at West Los Angles VA.
