The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, a national nonprofit advocacy group that also trains healthcare workers in dementia care, has teamed with Samarion Inc., a private healthcare technology company, in an effort to improve Alzheimer’s care.

The partnership will integrate the AFA’s training programs with Samarion’s Enterprise Quality Improvement System, which uses technology to monitor ambulation, socialization and other activities of daily living. The two groups hope to implement their program in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities and home healthcare settings across the country. The AFA has already trained and certified as many as 3,500 caregivers in dementia care, according to a press release issued by the new partners,.

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America represents more than 1,200 member organizations nationwide. Samarion  is based in Jackson, MS and supplies technology primarily to nursing homes and long-term care facilities.
