Some Republicans in Congress are criticizing AARP’s efforts to shape the insurance reform debate while also selling the product. In fact, three House Republicans sent a letter to AARP this week complaining that the group was putting its “political self-interests” ahead of seniors. The organization collected more than $650 million in royalties and other fees last year from the sale of insurance policies and other products that carry the AARP name, according to media reports.
