A controversial decision could be a "nightmare" for the government, a legal expert says.

After posing as a registered nurse at five facilities even though she had no medical training, a Texas woman pleaded guilty in a federal court case last week to making false statements relating to healthcare.

Leticia Gallarzo, 42, used the name and registered nursing license number from a registered nurse with a similar name to hers in order to obtain employment, according to the Texas Board of Nursing.

She committed the crimes between March 15 and Oct. 23 in 2015 at three nursing homes and two hospitals in five southern Texas towns. She was arrested Oct. 31, 2015, after the fifth facility reported her to authorities.

When an employer would start to realize she was an imposter, she would leave to seek employment elsewhere, according to a local news story.

Gallarzo faces up to five years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine. She was taken into custody upon pleading guilty, and will be held there until her hearing, which is set for Oct. 3, 2017.
