The American Health Care Association holds its 61st annual convention and expo Sunday through Wednesday in Long Beach, CA. As usual, it promises to help members earn many continuing education units and offer plenty of networking. But there also will be something unique about this year's edition. Many members will get their first chance to interact with incoming president and CEO, Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson.
The American Health Care Association will hold its Board of Governors' meeting Wednesday at association headquarters in Washington. Key personnel issues, along with the group's upcoming annual meeting, figure to be a significant part of discussions. The board has been working with an executive search firm attempting to find a replacement for outgoing President and CEO Bruce Yarwood.

The nation's largest nursing home organization is stepping up its efforts to find a new leader. A committee of about 15 people has been named to assist search firm Russell Reynolds Associates. Their goal is to find a suitable replacement for Bruce Yarwood, who will retire later this year as the president and CEO of the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living.
