Preparations are in full gear for nurses around the country to raise awareness of their vital role in the nation’s healthcare efforts. National Nurses Week begins Friday May 6 with National Nurses Day and ends May 12, which is Florence Nightingale’s birthdate.

A highlight of the week will be the free webinar, “Culturally Congruent Care: Why Diversity Makes a Difference,” at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on May 10. Marilyn (Marty) Douglas, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, an associate clinical professor in the School of Nursing at the University of California-San Francisco, will lead the hour-long session.
