Congressional visits on the docket, as providers gear up to host lawmakers, push for better funding

With the U.S. Senate on recess next week and the House of Representatives the week after, providers and lobbyists are preparing to arrange hometown visits with their respective lawmakers. Leading nursing home advocacy groups are urging operators to show members of Congress their facilities and campuses in order to gain better appreciation for what care takes place — and how costly it can be. Top issues on the priority list when speaking with lawmakers include funding for fiscal 2012, new mandatory employee insurance provisions and Medicare Part B therapy caps.
