Ventas gets big gain in Q2

Ventas Inc. posted a huge gain in the second quarter, with revenues up by almost 70% compared to a year go.
The total revenue in the quarter was $616.4 million. A year ago, the revenue was $359.5 million.

In addition to acquiring some senior facilities managed by Sunrise Senior Living in May, Ventas recently acquired Nationwide Health Properties, Atria Senior Living Group and Cogdell Spencer.

Ventas also sold $275 million in senior notes in August. It said it expects to use the proceeds to prepay a $200-million loan due in 2013.
