Two women have been charged with stealing $144,000 from a nursing home outside of Lancaster, PA, during a payroll scam that lasted three years.

Authorities say Deborah Lopez was working as a certified nursing aide at the Mennonite Home in Manheim Township, PA, when it was discovered she was being paid for hours she didn’t work. Police and nursing home officials investigating the case found that Lopez conspired with Victoria Felix, a scheduler at the nursing home, to carry out the scheme.

According to investigators, Felix would add hours to Lopez’s payroll sheets, and the two women would split the extra money. Police say the pair’s alleged con lasted from January 2012 to April 2015. The two women were arraigned and each released on $40,000 bail.

A spokeswoman for Mennonite Home declined comment Wednesday.
