Long-term care operators might want to review policies for identifying visitors, following allegations that a man posing as a T-Mobile worker gained access to an assisted living facility and stole copper pipes and wiring from the roof.

The incident took place on the afternoon of Dec. 30 at the New Broadview Manor Assisted Living center in Staten Island, NY, according to local news reports. Staff reportedly allowed the impostor to go up on the roof, and they later discovered the missing pipes and wiring.

Authorities released a photograph of the suspect, available here. Police said he was seen in a black Scion TC.

New Broadview had not responded to a phone call from McKnight’s as of press time.
