Ode to a Care Plan

Oh, canned core care plans,
I so despise you,
There’s no way I can personalize you!

Vomiting pages that never cease,
What nurse has time to read “War and Peace”? (… for EVERY resident!)

Really, 27 interventions for risk of fall?
I could use one or two; but not these all.

No wonder the staff just drop jaw stare,
When surveyors ask “What’s the plan of care?”

So let’s be wise and choose just what we need,
Don’t let the monster unleash its deed.

Like a diner menu, you don’t order all (at least I hope not!),
Just order what’s needed — the big and small.

Pick the few interventions you need,The rest remain there.
In that electronic monster,We call the core plans of care.

You will be happy, your residents too,
Instead of a hundred pages, you’ll have just a few!
