Senate panel to explore reliability of retirement communities

The Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a special hearing Wednesday in Washington to investigate levels of financial risk that consumers might face upon entering continuing care retirement communities. Committee Chairman Herb Kohl (D-WI) will open the hearing, "Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs): Secure Retirement or Risky Investment?" at 2 p.m. in Room 106 of the Dirksen Building.
 

Alzheimer's experts convene for annual meeting

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will hold a conference call for skilled nursing home providers on the Resource Utilization Group-Version IV (RUG-IV) system this Wednesday, June 23, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. EDT. The toll-free call will review key aspects of the RUG-IV case-mix system, which will take effect on an interim basis on Oct. 1, 2010, according to the agency.
