Team Technolageia won the top prize at the LeadingAge Hackfest Sunday through creation of an app called Momentum. The tool tracks a user’s progression through a customized exercise program and can detect decline. It motivates the user through goals, data, and reminders.

Team Technolageia will receive a check for $5,000, which was donated by The Asbury Group. Team Golden Age and The New Gold were runners up and received $2,000 each.

Judges looked at design, usability, feasibility and originality. Judges included Alice Bonner, Ph.D., Massachusetts Secretary of Elder Affairs; Kevin J. Burns, Chief Information Security Officer at MassIT – Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and Len Fishman, Director of the Gerontology Institute, UMASS Boston.

The LeadingAge Hackfest is an annual event designed to create technology-driven tools aimed at improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers. The idea was was created by Lili Dwight of GSI and Chip Burns, president of The Asbury Group, Integrated Technologies.
