A state senator in Missouri is planning to leave his seat to becomeexecutive director of the Missouri Health Care Association.

Sen. Jon Dolan (R) has been a senator since 2002. He was a sponsor of a law passed in 2003 that relaxed inspection requirements for good nursing homes but enhanced the state’s authority to penalize lower quality nursing homes.

Prior to his Senate seat he served in the state House. The new position will allow him to better provide for and spend time with his family, he said. It will also let him broaden his government affairs and public service career.
