Philip Sloane, MD, MPH

 

Philip D. Sloane, M.D., MPH, and Sheryl Zimmerman, Ph.D., will succeed John E. Morley, MB, BCh, as the editor-in-chief of The Journal of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, or JAMDA.

Their first issue as editors will be January 2018.

Sloane is currently the Elizabeth and Oscar Goodwin Distinguished Professor of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. He also earned his master’s degree in public health at the University of North Carolina. He currently has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and has co-authored two textbooks.

Zimmerman is the University Distinguished Professor, Associate Dean and Director of Aging Research at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She received her master’s and doctorate degrees at the University of Illinois-Chicago. She has published more than 300 peer-reviewed publications.

They both previously served as JAMDA reviewers. Both also have co-directed the University of North Carolina Program on Aging, Disability and Long-Term Care for almost 20 years.

Morley has served as editor-in-chief since 2007. He is credited with increasing JAMDA’s impact, raising submissions and the publication’s profile domestically and internationally.
